Monitoring activities under the project "Roma Women NGOs - active participants in civil society - Lilyak
On 21st April 2006 the Roma women from the village of Lilyak who are currently implementing their project "Fist Steps to Provoke Intolerance to Domestic Violence in the Roma Community" organized another seminar. This time the topic for discussion was domestic violence against children. The participants talked about the experiences of children who witness and suffer from violence in the family, and its effect on their behaviour.
Svetla Sivcheva from "NAYA Association" - town of Targovishte was invited as a speaker.
At the start of the Easter holiday, the seminar participants were welcomed by the organizers with coloured eggs and Easter cakes prepared by themselves and their families. The women arrived to the meeting with fresh bunches of spring flowers and this cheered up the working atmosphere and helped to go through the serious topic of domestic violence.
A team of journalist from the local TV Channel "Evropa" reported the seminar and interviewed two of the women participants who expressed their personal opinions and experiences and highly appreciated the benefit of such seminars and discussions on the issue of domestic violence.
